5K Run

Kick your morning off right. The official Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama 5K starts bright and early under the arch outside of the Finley Center at 7:30 AM. Open to all employees, with no limit on how many can run.

Changed for 2027: runners are no longer scored within gender and age categories. Every finishing time is recorded, and your team's fastest times are what score.

How it's scored: Your team's fastest finishing times are added together - the lower the total, the better. AND don’t forget, this is a “Main Event”, so the points that go toward your team are doubled.

Times that count‍

Division I - Best 3

Division II - Best 4

‍

SO, send as many runners as you like - only your best times count, and a slow time can never hurt you. If you finish with fewer runners than your division's required number, you keep the 20 points for entering the race, but you cannot place. The overall points on the table, are as follows:

1st Place - 200 Points 

2nd Place - 160 Points 

3rd Place - 130 Points
